... they are garden gnomes that have come to life and walked into your house and hidden under your bed until you have your eyes closed and you're just about to fall asleep and then you feel something watching you and there -- just inches from your face -- is your gnome, glaring at you with red beady eyes and licking his lips.

....they are lurking in your bathroom just staring at the door, so that when you walk into the bathroom and turn on the light, they just stare at you, while you wonder why there is a gnome in your bathroom.

Well, the first thing that came to mind was under the bed. But that was taken. Then came in the shower. I'm just paranoid that there's just something else in the bathroom. But that's taken too, soooo...
... they're in your yard in one spot. Then you turn around to put more dishes away and look back and they're 4 feet closer.
